Black correction officer mistaken for shoplifter files lawsuit against Walmart for ‘racial profiling’
Conners told officers in a video according to WSBTV, “I ain’t never shoplift a day in my life. You got the wrong man.”
Once Conners was shown security surveillance video of the “Wright” person stealing at the store, he told them to look, “that is not me.”
He told them to look at his tattoos arguing that he isn’t the same man, but that wasn’t enough for them to let him go. The officers thought Conners and the alleged shoplifter had a similar built and both wore a mask. Conners lawsuit alleges he was held until the officers FaceTimed another person familiar with the previous thefts to confirm they had detained the wrong person.
