Fans React After Bravo Fires Jennie Nguyen from ‘RHOSLC’ After Racially Insensitive Posts About BLM Resurface


“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Jennie Nguyen is out after Bravo announced that they will no longer be filming with the franchise newcomer after Nguyen’s insensitive comments about the Black Live Matter movement resurfaced. 

In a statement released on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, the network stated that “Bravo has ceased filming with Jennie Nguyen, and she will no longer be a cast member on ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.’ We recognize we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention.”

The memo continued, “Moving forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure we make better informed and thoughtful casting decisions.”

Nguyen’s firing comes less than a week after the reality star caught heat for several insensitive Facebook posts she shared in 2020 during the height of protest following the death of George Floyd in May of that same year.  

According to Page Six, the Vietnamese-American star’s posts included using phrases like “BLM thugs” and “violent gangs,” mentions of “Blacks,” and reportedly a debunked theory about Floyd assaulting a student in Spain. 

She ultimately deactivated her account and apologized for her remarks, noting, “At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were.” 

She added, “It’s why I deactivated that account more than a year ago and why I continue to try to learn about perspectives different from my own. I regret those posts and am sincerely sorry for the pain they caused.” However, the outlet noted that it was not deactivated when they visited her page before the incident. 

Still, fans of the franchise appeared pleased with the decision, including one Twitter user who commented, “This is a reminder that YOUR VOICES do matter.” They added, “This is a win for everyone that spoke up against the network and Jennie…
