Gigi Good Reveals Her “Garage Door Drag” Makeup Routine — See Video


Gigi Goode takes us back in time to the 1980s as she walks Allure through her “garage door” makeup look, explaining it as “treating your eyelid as a garage door of color… it’s just like boom, baby blue from lashes to brows.” Excited to get the ball rolling on one of her favorite trends of the past, Goode says “let’s go, girls,” as she begins her makeup look.

First step? Priming. “If you don’t prime your skin, you’re just aging a mile a minute,” Goode says just before she moves on to foundation. Applying the Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation with a gigantic (and I really do mean gigantic) makeup sponge, Goode tells us why she opts for a sponge the size of her entire hand. “I love [this sponge] because it just gets the job done three times as quickly,” she jokes. 

Moving on to some quintessential garage door shadow. Before starting with all that color, Goode contours with the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Contour Skinstick by rubbing the creamy brown formula along her cheekbones, temples, under her jaw, and along the outer bridge of her nose “to pinch it in,” she says. Using the same makeup sponge, she begins blending out the contour with gentle patting motions. 

To brighten up her face, she grabs two shades of her go-to concealer. “I like using One/Size Turn Up the Base Butter Silk Concealer because it’s really easy to blend,” she says as she applies the darker concealer below her eyes and under her cheekbone contour. Then it’s time for the second, lighter shade, which she applies to the inner corner of her eyes. “Once I blend this out, it’s kind of going to open the face up a little,” she explains. Immediately after blending the concealer, Goode grabs her Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder, warning us “it’s about to get dusty,” as she packs on the powder. “You get your T-zone first with the [setting] powder, just because that’s the place that’s going to crease,” she says. Leaving us with a useful reminder to “set it and forget it,” she moves on to her brows.
